Extra Activity

My kids are finally enrolled on an extra curricular activity.

In fact when I told them about it, they were so excited that my eldest demanded why couldn’t they start on that day itself!

I am also happy to be able to find a comfortable time for them to learn an extra skill – which was a little inconvenient to do when they were in the afternoon school sessions.

There are a few more activities I would love to get them to join – music, ballet, martial arts, tennis, swimming and even horse-riding as we do have this facility here (but since I am not into animals and I know that equestrian riding apparel cost a bomb, this has to be shelved, indefinitely).

So many plans!

But I will probably choose just one more activity and let them enjoy the rest of the days in the week playing as they wish – until riding their bicycles in our yard no longer hold any charm for them.

Those Pesky Angry Birds

One of the best holiday gift ideas I was asked about and approved for my kids last Christmas was this collection of 7 squeaky Angry Birds from my brother-in-law.

Being small and cute, the kids love them and those birds were taken all over the house.

They made many wild appearances during our recent Chinese New Year. One appeared in the picture I took of the reunion dinner, another on top of a basket of orange we used as prop during a family photo sessions and many others – and we did not noticed, who among my three were responsible to sneaking them into the shots.

In fact, we did not even notice those birds until we downloaded those pictures – and saw red, green and blue, EVERYWHERE!

Those birds sure made their way around the house but would have been lost in some corners in the house if I had not collected and put them on display, on some high cabinet.

In sight but out of reach.

Still No Card

It’s been a few months of having no credit card for me.

To say that it has been a torture would be an over-statement because frankly, there is no difference. Of course, there are times when I am halfway through shopping and I realised that I did not check my purse. There would be a few seconds of worry; what if my cash is not enough.

But then, this rarely happens (my not checking my purse before I started to load the trolley, I mean) so it’s not a big concern.

I would miss being able to accumulate points from my visa reward cards but the kind of things we can redeem these days are nothing exciting – just as if the bank are encouraging us NOT to spend, or at least, use the credit cards.

That’s alright.

I’ll just use cash and if there is none at hand – well, that’s what husband-coming-along-on-a-shopping-trip is for, right?

If You Can’t See The White Of Their Eyes

Filed in Random | Thoughts Leave a comment

There is this Facebook group where members would list all the messages they receive from conmen.

The men who sent these messages usually claim to be engineers, many work in oil & gas industries and nearly all are Caucasians (photos are always included).

One member shared one particular message she received from a supposedly-pipeline engineer, whose message was filled with detailed description of pipeline and such – in his very first introductory message.

You just cannot help but laugh.

Of course, this is not a joke. Many women seeking companionship (via various paid and free dating online sites or social networking sites) would find these scammers, would fall for them and soon after would willingly wire them money in the tunes of tens of thousands of dollars.

It is hard to believe how anyone could fall for them but maybe when a person is really eager to “find” someone, it is easy to ignore danger signs.

There was one documentary on this particular issue, whose host said this at the end, “If you can’t see the white of their eyes and they are not buying you a drink, don’t talk to them“.

Or at least protect yourself by learning how to date online safely.

Ever Watch Any Victoria’s Secret Show?

Filed in Random Leave a comment

It slipped my mind how I ended up on this particular Youtube video but it is the first Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show that I watched in full.

The first few seconds was classic example of why fashion models are expected to be perfect ONLY in looks and nothing else.

This is the plan. We go up here, stop, pose and smile and come all the way back. I know it’s tricky but we all have to memorize it” – with the plan being arrows making up one big square.

Still, this is an entertaining video (love the music).

And being Victoria’s Secret of the very sexy lingerie company, the models are mostly dressed skimpily, walking in that inimitable way (because they have legs none of us mere mortals can even imagine ever having) with some of the front row audiences looking like they are enjoying the sight of the models instead of the outfit.

Or maybe that is how it is meant to be?
