One fond memory of our recent trip to Kuala Lumpur was about an interesting shopping experience which I had.
At that time, we were staying at Gardens Hotel, which was located within the posh Gardens Mall of stores such as Karen Millen, Tod’s and Louis Vuitton.
Robinson’s was one of the department store in this mall. The other one was Isetan with both located on opposite ends of the building. Since Robinson’s was just next to our hotel, this was the store I went to first. The first few blouses which caught my attention were in the upper RM200 price tags but the deeper I walked in, the higher the prices appeared to be.
I was not there for 5 mins when I saw a simple blouse with a price tag of RM8++!
Even with our stronger Brunei dollar exchange rate, $3++ for a regular blouse was just too much.
At that moment, I dropped all pretenses, stopped browsing, walked the whole length of the floor and went out in the other exit.
Unfortunately for stores such as this, I have not reached the stage where I will pay for something which I can easily get at ten times less the price (minus the brand name, the quality of the material and with less than half of the supposed-excellent workmanship).
Anyway, I ended up in Isetan where I racked up bills which will make my husband’s eyes widened to double their sizes when the statement arrives – but at least it’s for SEVERAL items and not just one…
