If asked about the must-go destination in Sabah, my answer would always be the same : Kinabalu Park.
Even thinking about this place now conjures memories of crisp mountain air and fresh jungle smell, damp smell of rustic chalets and vivid moments of the countless of times I have been to this heavenly spot in Sabah.
I was planning another holiday here until I saw their latest rates.
Out of curiosity, I did a little research through various tour agents and found that for Nepenthes Lodge, the chalet which my family rented in 2007, you can get it for RM685/760, RM725/789 and RM915.
But it’s the published international rates quoted by its operator that was beyond belief.
Rajah Lodge is the biggest and imposing lodge in the whole park and we have never stayed here because the old rates is only worthwhile if you come in a large group and could make full use of the space. This lodge does not have perks like a private jacuzzi, spa facilities or even spa cover. No sauna room let alone gym room.
Yet this lodge which used to be below RM2000 is now yours for a night at RM8000. That’s USD2500 per day!
