Given a choice of any hotels, my pick would always be boutique hotels.
If I travel without the kids, it would not matter it the hotel has no lift, no bath tub and no TV. No grand lobby, no buffet breakfast and no doormen. Just as long as it has oodles of charm. It is designed around interesting themes. The kind of hotels which featured different decor for each of its room.
I would not even mind hotels re-converted from old shop lots – just as long as they made sure the ceilings are changed as knowing asbestos-linked Mesothelioma first hand from a one night stay is not cool.
By the way, along the tree-canopied Gaya Streets of Kota Kinabalu are a few boutique hotels which travellers to this city might be interested to check out.
