Short Is Back

One of my husband regular gripe is finding long hair on the floor, everywhere around our house.

It’s hard not to since there are four females here and all four have long hair.

And it’s not that we did not think that our kids – especially high-spirited ones who are never calm and serene for even five minutes unless they are asleep - should have hair at decent length i.e. short.

But the eldest – who endured two years of her kindergarten years with a short and foxy cut  - insisted that she never wants to have short hair anymore. Ever.

Naturally, her younger siblings followed suit.

What’s more, I am not on a first name basis with any hair saloon, so it is very easy to let our hair grow long.

Not anymore though – at least for me.

From now on, any long hair found on the floor is not mine.

Engineers Talk

With two engineers at home, their conversations are sometimes discussions about work.

Although they are from slightly different engineering fields, they work in relatively similar industries and so the discussions will revolve around one engineer getting technical explanation about certain mechanical aspects with the other engineer learning about the complexities of work in a certain industry.

A win-win scenario for both.

However, they are not the only one benefiting from these discussions. My understanding is half of what was discussed (and when they speak jargons with the likes of industrial bearings, I will be completely lost).

But I was happy to know – thanks to listening in to one of their conversations – that a neighbour’s water pump will break down sooner than the crooked-about-to-break ledge it was sitting on.

And I was proven right soon after.

Revision Time

Our bedrooms may not have the fine linens from Matouk but they serves their purposes – to relieve tired bodies and minds.

Especially during these examination period when kids without the benefit of tuition classes will be tutored by their own parents.

We are lucky to have kids who enjoy learning, who expect extra revision time and who are willing to do a little sacrifice – half and hour extra practice time just before their usual show time in the morning – in order to be as ready as possible for their exam.

There is no position to target and no prize to aim for but simply the satisfaction that they have done their best – and that parents have also done our best to get them as prepared as possible with revision exercises and mock exam papers.

It’s time to hold that pencil to write and draw questions again!

Blessed Life

There are times when I have to carry my youngest child – especially when I need to move around quickly.

Unlike the other two who will match my pace and not run off, the youngest always do things her own way – that means dawdling enough to make you grit your teeth as you wait or worse, simply going off in the opposite direction.

So despite her back-breaking weight that is my natural fat burners, I have no choice but to walk distances and up the stairs with the baby in my arm.

But it is okay with me.

I am not even bothered that because all of my kids are active, looking cool and elegant is the furthest thing from my mind. Some friends are understandably sympathetic but they should know that it is not a big issue – and definitely not something I need a maid for, since that is the question that usually follows.

Because unlike others in the same situations, I have many things that helped – strong spousal support and good established routines – in short, I am blessed.

Purple Bush

The ideal plants in my book are those which require minimal caring – nothing that involves more than watering and fertilizing – yet able to bloom profusely all year round.

One of the plant which live in my small yard, that has no such thing as a Duramax Garden Sheds, is this purple plant which I have yet to learn its name. Since it is planted right outside my living room, it’s lovely to see their purple heads every morning as I open the window.

The best thing is, this is the sort of plant which really needs nothing from me. During these rainy season, I don’t even need to water them at all and they just love to bloom.

This plant will stay in my garden for a very long time.
