Both of my school going kids did very well in their mid term examinations – earning much praises from their teachers.
We reminded them that their excellent marks were because of their hard work and because they kept doing practice and practice and practice! We are blessed because they are the kind who would quickly work on assignments we made for them and would even ask when I did not prepare them more!
We did not promise them anything for good results except to stress that the sense of achievement they felt when they see their result was what mattered most – not like a parent I was told who promised her child some Asus computer and is now in a fix because her child fulfilled her part of the bargain and is now demanding her prize!
But while my kids did not get any special prize, we celebrated their achievements with something all of us appreciated.
