Recently, I decided to inform the water department of certain problems which I felt should be addressed quickly. It it will cause some inconvenience to others and it also meant that we will have to pay more – albeit justifiably.
But I cannot see precious clean water flowing out on the road without feeling guilty. And I dread the day when the tap runs dry, which is very possible during these times of dwindling resources and uncooperative weather pattern – knowing that my indifference played a small part.
How can issues like fashion or television shows or even back acne treatment be more important that preserving what is very crucial to our survival?
I may not be able to ensure that anything is done about it but at least I have done my role as a responsible “citizen” and my conscience is clear.
