Music Loving Children

Living in a household with very musical children (plus nephew), hearing one or two or all four singing some kind of songs as they hang out together, is common.

Last Friday night by Katie Perry, Someone like you by Adele, On the floor by Jennifer Lopez, Rain over me by Pitbull are are just few of the songs which they have hummed and sang bits of – all courtesy of the radio when we are on the road and also from my nephew who has an all-access pass to Youtube.

Which led me to banning them from going to Youtube and locking channels such as MTV – but that’s another story.

To compromise, they will let me know the songs that they like and if the lyrics are acceptable (and I would check), I will then find music videos suitable for them, with and without lyrics.

They still get to enjoy the latest hits and can pretend to be cool around their friends who know even more WHILE I get to make sure they are not unnecessarily exposed to distasteful videos. Win-win situation!

And  ”Give me a second now…“ (what my youngest calls the song “We are young”, Glee version) is one of the songs I have in my computer and which is her ultimate favorite song of the moment.

Whenever she sees me on the computer, it’s a “Can I listen my song?” with a strict warning that I “DON’T SING!”.

Bullied by 3-year-old.
