Nativity Scene

The last time we attended Christmas eve mass in Brunei was more than 6 six years when we had to be here for a family function.

So after my father got to know the time of the mass service of a church in Brunei, he told us that we need to be in church 2 and a half hour before the service starts (knowing that the number church attendees will double or triple during these times).

I protested and tried to convinced him that it could not be as busy as the churches in Kota Kinabalu.

But since I have forgotten how it was like the last time I attended the same mass here and coupled with a threatening “If you are sure..” and if-we-ended-up-having-to-stand-it-will-be-your-fault, I succumbed.

So we were in church for Christmas Eve mass, 2 hours beforehand.

It was lovely mass with many quaint traditions not practised in Sabah churches anymore. The songs were lovely and the choir was excellent. The atmosphere was very Chrismassy and the church was beautiful. And as usual, it was the nativity scene which was the centre of attraction at the end of the mass.

Two hours! That is way too early for us, ‘cos if we go early, we won’t get a parking space as the church will still be having the service for Chinese congregation.

My father likes to get good seat, so we just have to follow!
