Orchid Haven

Not having green fingers – but blessed with parents who managed to turn our garden back home into a mini jungle, I tasked them to make me a small but manageable garden in my home.

We sent them to the flower market at Tamu Gadong (only on Fridays and Sundays) on the strict instruction that they must get plants that are very low maintenance – preferably those that have natural appetite suppressant since they will get little watering or fertilizing from me.

They came back with some plants that they insist have very high survival rate – which we shall see in a few months time.

They were impressed with the market and discovered that large bouganville sold in pots are half the price in Kota Kinabalu.

But it’s the orchids sections which had my mother raving and cursing (since she can only look). There are different variety and the best (or worst from her viewpoint) part is – they are 30% cheaper than the price in Kota Kinabalu.

*That is a picture of jasmine, not orchid of course.
